It a not so surprising turn of events, Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed. The game was slated for an estimated November 10th release to coincide to the new console launches, but that has been put aside. The developer has stated a couple reasons for the delay.
Wanting To Release a Polished Product
In the statement, Projekt Red stated “Since Cyberpunk 2077 evolved towards almost being a next-gen title somewhere along the way, we need to make sure everything works well and every version runs smoothly. We are aware it might seem unrealistic when someone says that 21 days can make any difference in such a massive and complex game, but they really do.” This goes along with their assertion of ensuring that the game is polished and well made before time of release so they can enjoy a fully finished product.
Having To Test 9 Versions While Working From Home
This is what makes the process even more complicated. Building an expansive and well polished game, while abiding by safety guidelines to ensure ensure the health of their employees. This is aided by their statement “The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test 9 version of it (Xbox One/ X, compatibility on Xbox Series S|X, PS4/Pro, compatibility on PS5, PC, Stadia) while working from from”.
Why We Are Fine With It
In an era bungled 3090 releases, to AntOnline’s publicity stunt, it’s hard not to appreciate when a company is actually putting in effort to keep the public updated and desire to properly release a quality product. We wish CD Projekt well with the the upcoming release as hopefully it signals a brilliant start to next generation gaming.
